HABITAT

Diverse Habitat: Boreal forests, bogs, temperate forests, Arctic and Antarctic tundra, tropical highlands and tropical lowlands of the Amazon rainforest.

The Lichen natural and vegetable source of vitamin D3 - Cholecalciferol plant.

Lichens and more particularly the genus Cladonia (Family Cladoniaceae) is the only plant known to date to produce vitamin D3 due to its unique symbiosis resultnig from the association of a microscopic algae and a filamentous fungus. This plant has the unique ability to synthesize at low temperature (<16°C) vitamin D3 from the pro-vitamins 7-DHC and ergosterol.

Of bushy aspect, this type of lichen is found in abundance in the wild in Canada, Scandinavia and Irland.

It is harvested seasonally in a way that respects fauna and flora.

A lack of vitamin D can weaken the immune system, fragilise bones, lead to a poor cell division but also tomood swings. Vitamin D also know as the "summer vitamin" is therefore an essential substance for the body.
